Your birth, your way

Choosing a private midwife for your maternity care offers so many benefits.

Individualised care

Having a private midwife by your side means a strong focus on you and your family. Your care will be tailored to your and your family’s individual needs.

Trust

By having a private midwife, you will build a trusting and solid relationship with them in the lead up to your birth. Having a robust relationship with your midwife going into your birth allows women to feel much safer in their midwife’s care.

Continuity of care

The aim is that you have one primary midwife throughout your entire pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period and the care is generally provided in the comfort of your own home, including the birth if you are planning to homebirth.

Informed decision making

Appointments with your midwife are usually 45 mins to an hour. This time allows for the relationship to deepen, and enables more in-depth discussions and time for you to ask questions, which will facilitate you to make informed decisions.

Physical and emotional support

The postnatal appointments continue for up to six weeks after your baby is born. During this time, your midwife will provide breastfeeding and physical and emotional support in your home.

Individualised care and support from an experienced private midwife is an invaluable investment in your pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting journey.
